Dr. Willard W. Maughan grew up in Roy, UT. After graduating from Weber State University, he attended Virginia Commonwealth University. In 2006, Dr. Maughan graduated 2nd in his class. He was awarded the PD Miller Sr. Scholarship for Excellence in Periodontics. Dr. Maughan then went on to further his training in Periodontics, completing a three year residency also at Virginia Commonwealth University. He was awarded a Masters of Science in Dentistry for his research on single nucleotide peptides and their relationship to periodontal disease susceptibility as well as a certificate in Periodontics. Dr. Maughan is Board Certified by the American Board of Periodontology. He also has full proficiency in Laser treatment of periodontal disease (LANAP), having completed a fellowship with the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry.
Dr. Maughan moved to the Lewiston and Clarkston area in 2019. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, hiking and working in his garden.
Dr. Maughan’s practice focuses on all aspects of Periodontics, from dental implants to soft tissue grafting and laser surgery to control periodontal disease.
Dr. Maughan is a Board Certified Periodontist
Dr. Maughan has completed an additional three years of specialized training in periodontics following dental school. He then chose to take the board-certification examination offered by the American Board of Periodontology. Being board certified denotes significant achievements beyond the mandatory education requirements of the periodontal specialty. This includes demonstrating a comprehensive mastery of all phases of periodontal disease and treatment as well as the placement of dental implants. Dr. Maughan is required to complete recertification every six years.
